DNA-based methods for Seafood Authentication – Seminar
11th July 2023
Free
The control of seafood authenticity is an important prerequisite to combat illegal fishing, consumer deception and food fraud. In order to examine the correctness of seafood labels and test their accordance with the European regulations, DNA-based methods are commonly applied by control institutions.
The workshop will be held in the framework of the European Atlantic Area project “SEATRACES- Smart Traceability and Labeling ToolBox for a Sustainable Seafood Production”. It aims to present methods and techniques to verify seafood authenticity developed in this project as well as new methods (NGS, real-time PCR, dPCR, on-site methods) developed by control and research institutions. Furthermore, validation and standardisation steps for the adoption of methods by control institutions will be discussed.
