The authors of “Development and In-House Validation of an LC–MS and LC–MS/MS Assay for the Determination of Food Fraud for Different Fish Species” show that protein analysis, using LC-MS and LC-MS/MS combined with principal component analysis (PCA) and artificial neural networks (ANNs), can be a valuable tool for fish species identification. In this paper they show data which support the differentiation between one red snapper (Lutjanus malabaricus) and redfish (Sebastes spp.). Validation includes the differentiation of this red snapper from other nine additional marine species.
