European Commission has published a pocket guide to the EU’s new fish and aquaculture product labeling regulation (EU 1379/2013) to help to understand the information that is shown in a canned fish or in a frozen fish fillets, for example. This guide explains what information should appear on the labels and what is voluntary to show for the operators.
Several regulations are considered to define the information appearing on labels, such as the common organisation of the markets in fishery and aquaculture products regulation (EU No 1379/2013), food information to consumers (EU No 1169/2011), food additives (EC No 1333/2008) and hygiene rules (EC NÂș 853/2004).
